Granny's gone and done it again

Thanks, h2o. Not feeling wonderful today. Temp is 100.4. I don't understand why, have been on abx several days now. Just want to sleep.
Ouch!

Agree with contacting doc especially since it is Friday. Especially since a fever generally goes up at night. Makes me wonder if they have you on the right antibiotic. Did they by chance culture the wound when you were in the ER?

Rest and push fluids, agreed. Tylenol, or NSAID for the temp and crappy feeling.

Did they want you to ice pack or hot pack the wound?

Sorry, nurse genes kicked in. Hi guys. Well, one 'coon down two more to go. DH thinks the one we caught was the larger of the three he saw. Not really big which is surprising since we have some gynormous racoons around here. One scared the bejeezers out of our first cattle dog. Poor Dingo hurt his ear trying to open the garages sliding door to get in one night and get away from one that was challenging him and that dog didn't shy away from much. I was glad, it was asleep when I dispatched it to wherever thieving racoons go when you dispatch them. Trap is getting set again tonight.

DH went to haul it back to the woods for the vultures and 'yotes to take care of and discovered the tractor had a flat tire. Sigh. Never fails. Traced it to a valve which meant he had to wrestle the beast off the tractor. Took us a bit of time to round up the breaker bar. I was worried about him breaking the lug nuts loose. He had another round of skin cancer surgery last week. I pull the sutures on Monday. This time on his right back/shoulder. 8 this time. One of the derm surgeons he sees asked him one day if he realized how many procedures he had undergone since starting with them 7 years ago. At the time, 36. This is #37 and that isn't counting the others he had through the VA prior to getting VA community care.

Can't stress enough to make sure y'all use sun screen.

He finally managed to get the lug nuts broke loose on the tire and took it into the Garage in nearby Atlanta to get it repaired. Talk about catching a break. Replaced the valve stem, filled it with green leak stop goo and pumped it back up. 36$ out the door. Super nice guys and they never make you wait.

@CapricornFarm. I keep forgetting! I need to get a pic of the sunflower that came up from the seeds you sent me. I sowed some direct and started a few indoors. This guy was the survivor along with a cheerful yellow guy. I hope I can keep the birds off of the heads long enough to gather some seeds from them. Thanks so much for sending them last Christmas.

ME!ME!ME! Can I come, too? I don't eat much or take up much space! My dream rock to add to my collection is also a Dugway Geode! If I could find it myself? Nirvana!

Missouri is sort of a no man's land when it comes to rock hounding. We have some geodes, Septarian (lightning) rocks and fossils near us. The whole north eastern part of the state used to be a saline sea but I think there are some worthwhile rocks to be found in the Ozarks.

Tularemia? Crap. Glad they screened you, Blue. Ticks have been horrible here. Saw the doctor in April and when I had to drop trou to get a steroid shot, there was a tick biting my behind. Nurse gasped, I just shrugged and said, oh, tell doc I need a refill on my Minocycline also, please and pull it off.

Got sick last year from a Lone Star bite. Two rounds with Lyme. One of our dogs tested positive for ehrlichiosis and we treat monthly for ticks and fleas.

Needless to say. I hate ticks.

Get rested. I would let doc know you're still running a Temp..and..your tired symptom. . . By tomorrow if it's still going on.

Well .. tomorrow's Saturday. And in fact all the doctors shut down at noon on Friday around here. Temp seems to be going down and yes, I am pushing fluids. (I always do.)

Thanks for this. I had read some other sites already but not this one.

Wonder if they should change you to doxy
I actually got started on doxycycline to begin with. But the ER dr said it was the wrong thing for the spider bites and got me a cephalexin type... I think I missed one dose of doxy thinking I didn't need it, as I hadn't heard from thd lab yet and didn't know about the tularemia. So now I am taking both! Of course the ER dr didn't know about the tularemia either. Hope it's okay to take both ...

Ummmm...asked my doctor honey about that and he said he didn't think it was a good idea to take both at the same time. Not without doctor's approval. Have to remember that everything that you take goes through your kidney's and liver.....a lot of us don't have organs that are 'spring chickens' any more if you get my drift.

Understood, I hate ticks too. I mean I REEEEAAALLLY hate ticks. I grabbed a snake the other day and dealt with it, no problem, but ticks .... shudder. So I seldom venture outdoors and I used to love being outside - in NM, which does not have ticks. When I do go outside, I wear knee-high boots, yes, even in 100-degree temps. And I usually only go from the house to the hen house, or sometimes I walk the path around the house, where there is no grass. I'm not agoraphobic (fear of going outdoors), I am tick-phobic, whatever that's called. :sickNasty things. They are a blight on nature.

Thanks, I will call pharmacist and ask. Yeah, my liver's not all that and a box of chocolates either.
