Our weather man is predicting a long, warm, dry spell for us because of la Nina trying to kick in. Great.

I saw two corn fields today that will not be harvested. The are burnt crispy from lack of rain. I bet that there is not a bushel of kernels in the whole acreage. 60-80 acres at least.

I'm chilled, fatigued and don't feel too spiffy. Want to go to bed and it's only 4:30ish. That long drive takes it out of me.

The only reason I'm still up is that I need to turn the pump off at 11pm or I'd be in bed already. Our trip was only 50 miles round trip.

Mom's surgery is tomorrow... since she has to fast you would think it would be a morning appointment. Nope, when the office called this afternoon to let her know her time slot, it's 1 pm! Ok, that would work great for me, but she's a morning lark!
She wakes at 4-5 am. So no tea, breakfast, lunch... and no smoking.
She's not going to manage the no smoking for that many hours. If she was able to do that kind of stretch, she would have been able to quit years ago.

Man, you'd think we were a couple of old-timers! I've been snuggled under my electric blanket, reading and watching tv. Had a mug of chicken noodle soup and a cup of honey-sweetened peach tea (DH is my darling!). And now I have a purring cat sitting on my chest. Life is good even if I don't feel awesome.

I was in my favorite grocery store today and fell into the impulse buying mode for a cinnamon roll they had out. Two in the package so we each had one. First time in a long, long time.

She's tried them, they don't work because so much of smoking reward behavior is about the habits themselves. Sometimes she'll just light one and hold it after the initial puff and I ask her what that's about. They're so expensive. But she thinks she has to, more intently if she thinks she can't or won't be able to... and honestly I think she has anxiety. Me too, but my coping methods are different.

The patches wouldn't work before surgery because they're trying to get nicotine out of the blood to reduce bleeding complications.
With such a late appointment, it's like they're trying to make her break the rules. I just can't understand the logic there. How many patients are abstaining from food until the afternoon?
Not a problem for me, but I'm weird. These are normal people lining up for their surgeries, apparently the doctor doesn't any morning surgeries.
