Granny's gone and done it again

Sounds awful Cynthia, more pain then I can comprehend. I hope I don't have to do PT. I can barely move it now and yes, its in my shoulder blade now
No PT really after neck/spine other than moving your head forward and backward, and side to side..at home..so many times a day. That's it.

Tom is driving me crazy. He is so confused on top of a broken hearing aid or whatever is wrong. He keeps asking the same questions over and over.He thinks his chair is coming today. I even wrote it down for him. Not helping
Scott would ask the same questions over and over. :( He could hear.

A group of coconut crabs is called a nightmare
The coconut crab is known for its ability to use its massive pincers (chelae) to crack open coconuts. The largest coconut crabs can exert a force of 3,300 newtons (about 742 pound-force) with their pincers
and depending on what they ate they could be poisonous.
They're big all right!!

The lady I cared for in Sun City would take spells like that too. No point getting frustrated or angry. Just give the same answer, over and over. Seemed like she would do it when she got stressed or tired. You can try to redirect or distract. Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. They can't help it. My son did that when he was six and fell off his bike, that's how I knew he had a concussion. It's just the brain misfiring.

Cant roll in a recliner. Hard to stay off them too.
You can lift up on 1 side for a few minutes to take the pressure off your bottom. Even standing up for a minute helps. When the patients were in a chair, Doctors usually say to move every 2 hours for 3 to 5 minutes. When they are bed bound turn from side, to back, then to the other side every 2 hours.

Sure hope everyone is feeling better tonight. So much pain and sickness. Way too much. It's like reading emails from old friends and them telling you they are sick or in pain and you are just powerless to help them other then telling them all they are loved and you are praying for them.

@Granny Hatchet I doubt if the repeating questions has anything to do with his hearing aid problem. That is quite common with advanced dementia. I had a lovely little old lady with a strong German accent that I took care of who would come up to my desk two or three times a night every night and say, 'How long have I been here?' I would tell her, she would totter off and 30 minutes later come back and ask me again. Finally I had a brain storm and set down and wrote down how long she had been at the facility. What her family's name were, what her old address was, etc and gave it to her telling her to put it in her purse which she carried with her all the time. She was thrilled I had thought to do that for her and I watched her fold it up and put it in her purse. Later that night she came tottering back up to me and yep, you guessed it...asked me if I knew where she had put her purse.

I miss that old lady. She was a hoot. But repeating of questions is a symptom. All you can do is take a deep breath and answer.

Question. Do you have photo albums? Most of our generation does. Drag them out and give them to him to look at. He may not recognize everyone, he may ask you, 'who's this?' a thousand times but it will entertain him and stimulate his memory. And just maybe give you a bit of a break.

As for the wheel chair. GRANNY! THEY ARE THERE TO HELP YOU! Do not hesitate to go in and say, I need your help with my husband. I can't get him out of the car by myself. You have enough challenges of your own. Make the young professionals earn their pay. Sorry for yelling but you need to be your own best advocate as well as Tom's. You matter. You are loved. We care about you and what you are going through. If we were closer to you we would all show up at your door to help you but as it is we can only offer you help and support here. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Our rule of thumb was every 30 to 60 minutes when we had patients who needed turned and positioned.

Also sitting on egg crate foam or faux Sherpa (lambs wool) fabric.

Most of all the raw areas need to be treated and covered so they can heal and yep, just rocking back and forth from hip to hip can help although it's better to just stand up and relieve the pressure you put on your butt when you are sitting for long periods of time.
