Granny's gone and done it again

Does everyone on here get the flu shot? I didn't. I've been taking vitamins religiously, thinking if I get sick it will help me fight it off. DH got the flu shot almost 3 weeks ago and has been fighting flu symptoms since. I know it doesn't mean he got it from the shot. He's on antibiotics, inhaler and Robitussin now.
We take vitamins regularly too. We eat a lot of green and orange vegetables and fruit. Not picky eaters either. The more defenses I have the better I feel about it. I don't trust any one defense for any disorder or disease.

We were taking an assortment of vitamins and minerals when Covid hit and we got it. Neither of us got sick at all and never had much more than a slight cough and drippy nose. Nothing as bad as a common cold. When we got the regimen from the doc to take we discovered that we were already taking about half of the things that were prescribed. Neither ever had a fever with it.

Because DH hasn't been feeling well, he's been turning the heat on and I don't have the house winterized yet. I did all my shopping online for window& door insulation. I want to use less oil but have a warm house this winter. I did get an electric space heater after doing tons of research. I told DH to keep it at his table and ONLY heat yourself, not the whole room. We will keep the room heat low with the oil heater and when he just can't get warm the space heater can help. I saw the other night he had the heat in his room at 70°😬. He turns the space heater on much lower because it's direct and it's on at intervals. It's ceramic. Today I took his air conditioner out and hopefully my insulation supplies come on Monday. The heater is very small but heats well. I have to watch the electric bill. It should work if I can get him to understand

I like the looks of that space heater. We keep our whole house unit which is an electric one set on 66° during the winter and don't use much that way. We to have a few small space heaters for an emergency. We can close off a lot of the house and not heat the guest area when we are home alone and that helps.

I had the COVID shot and took vitamins and still got pretty sick- (not hospital sick) though but I had active Crohn's at the time so can't really say how much it helped. I didn't get the COVID shot this year. Dr says I should. I just never know what I should do.
Dr asked if I'm scared of it. Can't say that. But I've been sick a whole lot from medications and it makes me feel like letting my body do it's fighting. Every time I get sick my kidney function goes real low and it's already less then 50%. Times like this is nice having Mama that tells you what is best!

We do. Actually we are due for our flu and Covid shots. Probably get them next week.

We have two thermostat. DH sleeps sitting up. His room is the closest because it is almost all windows and has a thermostat itself. He heats that room. I hear the rest of the house and kept it at 40° because it was too drafty and took too much oil. Our water is oil heat and I turned it own for the summer. Once I've got all the holes plugged, I'll turn that up.

I wish we could install a GeoThermal unit that heats with ground water. We do have a heating/cooling system that uses the air temps to help heat and cool our place now. It's still nowhere as efficient as a GeoThermal type.

I had the oil company out to give a quote to fix the leaking water pressure reducer. They hit me with a $1650 quote. The neighbor man gave me his plumber and that quote is $280. He should be out to fix it next week. I will never get a contract with the oil company again.
The price of a valve off the shelf is around $155.00. The plumber is not getting rich on his quote by any means. I bought a valve to lower the pressure in lines running to my chicken coops. All brass and not a cheap valve that fails easily.
