Granny's gone and done it again

Oh ya. I spray perfume into the shop vac to keep the stench down. Oh. There is one of the little monsters crawling across my computer monitor now.

As for the pred. Even a small dose over time can eat away at your bones. Not to mention cause cataracts, glaucoma and a host of other nasty little things. Better to pulse the dosage.

Okay guys, I need your help. Any of you have carpal tunnel syndrome? For about a week now my fingers of my left hand on the palm side have been pins and needles and at times numb as in dead to the world. It kept waking me up for a few nights even if I didn't have my hand kinked around like I usually do when I sleep. I can't figure out if the problem is TCS or if it is with the foramen narrowing and arthritis I have in my neck. I have been wearing a wrist brace at night and have been able to sleep better but what's weird is that if I shrug my shoulder up to my ears, the tingling eases off.

If you have had TCS, is this how it acts or do I have a pinched nerve in my neck causing it? I see the doc next Monday but would like to have an idea about what is going on with me...this time.
Oh, no! I wish you the best of luck! I like to know ahead of time as well so I can arm myself with questions when going to the Dr. Otherwise you think of all the questions when you come home.

No, we go through this every fall after the first freeze which we had last week. I've laid in bed at night reading from my Kindle and had the little S.O you know what's fly in my face. If you touch them they emit this really foul, musky smelly fluid.

When we moved here on 09 we quickly learned that everything in Missouri either sticks, bites, stings or gives you a rash. Kind of like seeing a cute little animal that rises up suddenly and has 3 inch fangs that it sticks into your leg.

Had one fly in my mouth yesterday on my way out to the coop. I was not pleased.

I did find where they were getting in that window screen and caulked it up yesterday. They were squeezing in around the side frame of the screen so I caulked the whole screen in around the edge. I'll be cutting it out when the day comes that we have to replace it but if it keeps the little boogers out I'll deal with it.

Right now there are about 50 on the bedroom ceiling. less than yesterday so I'm hoping I've thwarted their way to get in between the window and screen and then into the house. Tomorrow I need to get the caulk gun out again and caulk around the trim work around the windows in the bedroom and living room on the inside.
Chick, we have won the battle against these monsters, apparently permanently! Lemon oil KILLS them. I got a bottle of Old English Lemon Oil for furniture. I put some of this oil in a spray bottle with water along with a few drops of Dawn dish soap as an emulsifier. These bugs were swarming all over my front windows. I sprayed all around the windows, not caring if this spray got in the glass. I was amazed and gratified when the beetles FELL LIKE RAIN on contact! Even the ones who were not directly sprayed, when they crawled over the areas that had been sprayed, dropped to the window sill and DIED. I used a small brush and dustpan to remove them and tossed them in a trash can.

Chick, this was at least five years ago and we have seen maybe a handful of these beetles in the house since then, no more. Maybe two or three a year. And they don't last long. They used to cover the ceiling and walls like in your pictures. I would say in a one-pint sprayer I used a quarter cup of the lemon oil. Good luck!

Blue, they are anything but ladies.

Got back from the coop and felt creepy crawlies under my shirt. Found two so far. I'm flattered that they think my cleavage is a good place to hibernate but I don't think so....

I have to go into Macon tomorrow. I'll pick up a bottle at Wally World and give it a try. While I was out on the south side of the house filling water jugs for the chickens I hosed down the side of the house. Weird thing is that once I hose it down, they don't come back. Only place I saw any was on the down spout for the gutter.

Read on the internet today that the way to tell the true lady bugs from Asian Beetles was to look for two white spots on their heads at the base that look like an 'M'. They also have uniform spots on their carapaces. Asians have neither.

I figured you would have some advice being in southern MO. Thanks mucho, my friend.

Will your vacuum wand reach the ceiling where you can just vacuum them up?
That is what we have been doing now and in the past, Pert. It works but you can go back 30 minutes later and there are twice as many in their place. We use our shop vac which has a longer hose and attachments that will reach to the ceiling. I vacuum up some 7 veggie dust into the bag and go to work. When the smell gets too bad I spray a couple of squirts of perfume or pet scent remover like Nature's Miracle down the hose and it pretty well handles the smell. The 7 dust kills them in the bag. When the season ends for them we change out the bags.

@BigBlueHen53 is right. you can go outside and they are hanging on the side of the house, the window screens, flying around under trees. They love the sunlight and seem to be drawn to white siding. Our siding is white metal siding which seems to be what the Amish prefer when they build. This siding has ridges in it so no matter how hard you try you can't seal up all the places where they can get into your house. I shudder to think how many are in the outside walls.

Dr recommended to me a wrist splint to sleep in so I am forced to not curl it in my sleep

The pills are big and square and she is the size of a cat. So I cut pills in 8ths. But she literally spits like a man, doesn't just drop it. Those big black eyes stare at me, her mouth stops moving and I think she swallowed it and all of a sudden it comes flying back out-all without flinching. Spits like tobacco juice. Between Cheddar cheese, bacon, fig newtons. Tidbits of the fatty pat of bacon works best cause it's pliable to wrap around a pill, small enough to swallow without chewing & Butchy Boy wants to steal it so she quick swallows. I always have a second tidbit without a pill ready to put in her mouth so she focuses on that. Even so, I haven't hit perfection. Counting down to the last pill-14 pills
What are you giving her? They make a liquid that gave my puppy for pain.
