Granny's gone and done it again

Hi. I am tired today. Turns out the workmen that came unexpectedly this morning to replace the phone line were only here for round 2 (round 1 being the tree trimmers on Fri). There is still 3 or 4 rounds to go, as they work through the process. I don't like them not telling me in advance that they are coming. I want to go up to MIL's this week, and am afraid they will let the dogs out.

Hope you get some buyers for your chicks. I have been looking at that Lorp with the pinkish wattles and boy behavior... nothing has changed in 2 weeks! I think it might very well be an aggressive pullet. In that case, SHE and the Welsummer pullet will join the big mob and the 3 little CCL's will join the bantam coop.

I can have roosters, but don't want one... bedroom is too close to the coop. Little Serama rooster is way up back and he wakes me up, that's bad enough. Lorp is not mean, just seems very dominant. Runs up on the the CCLs and stands over them. They just stay still. No pecking or anything like that, but the behavior is kind of crazy... charging as my hand when I am reaching into the cage. Only cockerels have done that in my experience. so far! If it's a she, definitely a tomboy!

Wish, the cage is on the back porch. Back wall is 75% glass, two big windows and a sliding door. We were watching tv and talking when the fuss started. At first I thought it was having a seizure, til I saw the snake.

It's the same cage that Jasper is crawling in (did it again this morning while I was gone. This time he was lying calmly when I noticed him). I'm trying to convince DH that he was protecting the babies. :love :lau

Jasper is a snake wrangler! I was walking the neighborhood with a friend last week and we were just about to cross a small dry creek and heard this crazy hissing sound from the bushes. Instant rattlesnake alert! We got some long sticks and pushed the bushes back... turns out is was a gopher snake in full defensive mode. I have never heard one hiss before. It's not really a hiss, more like a vibration. They will shake their tails too, and in dry leaves, it sounds like a rattle! But gopher snakes are good, so live and let live!

Don't watch if you don't like snakes!
