Granny's gone and done it again

If I can get a Sapphire Gem rooster and breed some of the hybrid vigor out of them and reduce the rate of lay back down and then they just might live longer. The problem is the pullets may be all that are sold. I want to find out.
That's what I have liked about the Egyptian Fayoumi girls I have. They are not heavy layers. 2 eggs a week maybe 3 at their peak laying. My oldest girls are 5 now and do still lay an egg or two for me.

I have two beautiful half Fayoumi roosters. One is sweet and funny, the other is an a**. I have never been able to hatch a half Fayoumi pullet from my birds though.

There are two BBR Bantam hens that I have that jump on my back whenever I bend over to fill a feeder. Mother and daughter, Peanut and Pecan. Never taught Pecan to mimic her mom but she saw her fly up to roost on my head one day and copied her. The little cockerel I helped out of his shell this spring after his mom abandoned him is a character also and follows me around for cuddles. Given my history dealing with Marek's disease, my husband is always telling me not to get emotionally attached to them.

Too late.

Granny are they saying for certain that he will only be there for 30 days? Frankly, I've never heard of that happening. Like I said earlier, if he already has Medicaid that will kick in automatically after 30 days. They are probably already filing both Medicare/Medicaid for him now although the latter usually doesn't kick in until after Medicare's 30 day pay period. It's been a while so I'm not 100 percent sure.

IMHO I would talk to his doctor and see what he recommends. Or talk to the Social Services Dept at the nursing home and see what they can tell you.
Not sure they gave me the # of days but all the rest of it, Yes. They said they didn't have any Medicaid beds

Do they have a waiting list?

IF he has to stay, ask them if they can recommend another facility. That you have been pleased with his care and would really like for him to stay where he is if possible. Trust me. They don't want to lose business. Body in the bed motivates hospitals and nursing homes.

all the people that takes care of him will come to me telling me what a sweet gentle man he is and a joy to take care of. I believe I did ask about somewhere else and they said no they couldn't.

I had a white giant hen that like to fly to my shoulder when she was a young girl. Glad she got out of that habit. I had both cockerels and pullets out of a Delaware flock that loved to fly up and get on my shoulders and one Delaware roosters that like to land on top of my head. My son has pictures of him doing that. He had just pulled into the driveway when the rooster landed on my head and he got out and got the picture. When he was here in November I asked him if he still had those picture and he does. Need to remind him to email them to me. One of the Delaware hens later that like my shoulders landed there and as I turned to greet her she sent me to the ER with an embarrassing peck to the eye. The x-ray tech that did my eye that evening told me that she had that experience too. Then my eye doc later said it happens more than you think. I no longer care about egg production or egg size as all I want are pets that will gather around. Not interested in raising meat birds again either. Those hens will steel your heart quick.

Ouch! I used to raise house birds and I know they aimed for the eyes. Your lucky the bird didn't poop in your hair!
