Granny's gone and done it again

Cleaning out my grandpa's shop after my grandmother died around three years ago I found a small Oak log that he had split and he had drawn a pattern of a spoon on. It was a small project that he had never finished. Well today I finally started working on it and it's looking pretty good. Now as I sit here looking at it I finally realize that he was in bad shape when he drew the pattern. Being in not so much great shape myself I understand why he tried to do these little projects. I was little when I helped him build his shop. And like him when I got older and had my own house I built my own shop. And also like him I finally made it to where I can no longer build something as big as a shop. But today this little Wooden spoon has given me joy and a sense of pride. He fought in World War II and the Korean War and later worked for CSX. My mom told me that when he was put out of work on disability that he would cry and went through major depression. I to can relate to that. But somehow even though small these little projects seem to help a little.
