Well, all I can say is that you guys have your source to back you up, and I have mine, and the two are 180 degrees opposed.

When you see a rainbow you see Basicly the white light that came from the sun beeing broken up to different light waves by the water drops of the rain, in the night you never see a rainbow even if it's raining! The conclusion is that the sun light contains all the colors wail the night is lacking them all!

I was taught in H.S. Art class that white is the absence of color because it reflects them all, as black is a combination of them all because it absorbs them all.

That's all I have to go on; that and the definitions on wikipedia.org and answers.com, which both pretty much agree with one another. One of them goes so far as to say that the opposite was once thought & taught to be true, but no longer is.
