Granny's gone and done it again

Well the nightly temps have been in the lower 60's. So no chicks outside. :barnie

I did however have to split them into 2 brooders. Big fatties. I cleaned them out AGAIN! :he They are as bad as the ducks I feel like.
Blooie says 60 degrees is nothing to worry about when you use a momma heating pad thing.

I'd put them out.
I will never have chicks brooded in doors ever again..no matter how cold out it gets.

I started on Myspace and moved to FB when it first started years ago.
It got "Old"..I have enough crazies to keep up with on here.
And the people in m "real" life I see and or speak too enough to know what is going on in their real life too.
I'm just not a fan of hourly updates, expect when they are about Granny!
I am pretty selective about who i have as a friend on facebook. Most people i know only post once or twice a day. I don't phone people much. When i had little kids i was on the phone a lot. There was no facebook then. And i lived in the country so not many friends around.

I found out you can keep them outside if your brooder is fully enclosed and you have a back up heat source. I learned the hard way, if the light bulb blows... they die. I use a 60 watt bulb as back up. They are getting to be hard to find.

Biddies enjoying the cooler morning after I rolled up the tarps. I'm enjoying it too. Working on fall planting, mid summer garden clean up, flea treatment of dogs and cats today. And of course laundry, housekeeping.

Sorry about your hen, Red. I have to watch my 5 pound alpha-chi-wow-wow Max (Maximum Dawg Minimum Packaging) when he's out doing alpha dawg stuff. We have hawks and owls in abundance. I'd be out of chickens before a month was past without a covered and netted run.

Cap everything is LED now. I almost didn't find one for my incubator
That is what i mean! Why do "they" get to make these decisions? Sometimes you can find the old style bulbs at Goodwill. They also sell reptile lights, which come in various wattages, at pet stores but they are crazy expensive.

That looks great! I am still considering what to use for tops on my chain link runs. I think wood and plywood would be most secure. Less muddy too.

LED is crap. I have them in my room. I can't even see to paint my face!

I wish they would have left them alone. It's a pain in the butt!
