Not exactly crunchy. Start it on the stove, finish in the oven.

Noooooo! So far it's been a quail hawk, a dove hawk, and possibly a jay hawk (but there weren't enough feathers on that for confirmation). I don't want it to be a serama hawk!

I just meant its the size of a serama . I hope it dont get them too !

I hope not too. One other thing I noticed while looking up in the grapefruit tree... something has been stripping bark off the branches. Looks like I will lose several large limbs.

I know it's the rats. Finally got my snap traps. Putting them in the shed unset with peanut butter to get them used to the traps being there, and being a source of food. I will set them after they eat the bait regularly. Then SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!

Hahaha! If I could get the hawk in the shed, maybe it would take care of the rats for me! Kill two birds with one stone? two rats with one bird? Probably more rats than that. There always are.

good thinking ! Why would they be wanting bark ?

Quote: Because they're rats!

They will eat some citrus, but I haven't noticed that. Those grapefruit are too bitter.

But for most trees there is a layer just under the bark called the cambium, that is pretty edible and sweet. Remember that. It could save your life the next time you get lost in the wilderness.

Four babies made it up to the roost with mama! Who can spot the keet?

Four babies were in the nest box, and the same poor little fella from last night was on the floor. I was relocating some roos and he ran out and pecked my feet, so I helped him in.
