We got everything cooked and ready to go yesterday, except for the gravy, so that will be this morning's chore. Will be hard not to eat it before dinner!![]()
That little cockerel I put up in the bantam coop is wreaking havoc. No one is getting injured or anything, but he has the hens so freaked out, they can't get to the food or water.I am going to do what I should have done when I moved him up there, set up a pen in the run for him. My sister is taking care of the critters today, but I can't ask her to babysit the bantams and make sure they eat. Also, it got down to mid 30s last night which is quite cold for us, so I also have to string the extension cords up to the coop for the heat lamp. Just a few chores, and then clean myself up, pack up the food, and we will be off for the day. Hubs' step sister (the nice one!) and her teen nephew will be at dinner also, so that will be fun, but wish I got a bigger turkey! 3 teen boys and one little bird!
Hope they like potatoes!![]()

My sister, who likes to cook, taught me how to make tasty turkey gravy. Not too much turkey grease, a little butter to brown the flour (must brown the flour), add in the pan drippings (especially the brown bits), stock or broth, and then her little extras that make it really good are Worchey sauce, little white wine (or touch of vinegar), and poultry seasoning. Then you need to cook the gravy for a little while, about 15 minutes, until it thickens and reduces. We are going to add in the tasty neck meat too. I'm getting hungry!LOL I have never tried them For me it has always been red taters prefer Viking but Pontiac is not to bad either. Despise russet taters to dry and mealie for my taste or you need so much butter that I would go broke.
I am not to fond of gravy either. Mother made terrible gravy and I guess that just stuck. I have been told my gravy is good but not really to me.![]()

I am not a slave to heating them, but mine seem so miserable when they get cold. Hope CB feels better and enjoy your perogie soup which sounds very interesting. Is that a granny special recipe?
I'm off to let out the layers and set up my cockerel cage and heat lamp. Will check in later. Hope everyone has a nice day!!
