Maybe just in a not-so-attractive stage? Sometimes they go through some really funky looks......or one of those that you keep around because they have character.
I had five chicks, but two of them looked EXACTLY alike for the first two months. Ones name was Martin, then the other was then named Impostor. Imposer then started to steal everyone's eggs, this continues to the day. Then when I got grand champion with her, I lied and told the judge and said she was blue wheaten, when she was really a EE mix.
I don't know, she is weird.
LOL, love her story.
No kidding - such a unique looking little one. It's just unfortunate how they end up not looking anything like their chick pattern when they mature because there are some really fascinatingly patterned chicks out there that would be stunning marked like that as adults.Granny, i love leopard. Would be so excited if i hatched a chick like that. My experience is that most patterns are inherited from the roo.

Right now just two EE hen's and two Buff Orp hen's.We used to have a lot more but had to downsize because of feather picking. But we will be getting some Cochins, BO's, and maybe a few other breeds along with a cockerel in the spring.![]()

Cochins are lovely birds!
WooHoo!!!!Day 22. Popped out with zero help![]()
Amazing for the fact it had to A) overcome a horrid AC and B) zip thru a crack fix....
Not sure where in Ohio you are but the Central Indiana Poultry Show (Lebanon IN) is in the fall each year and I know at least the year I attended (2015) they were a National Meet for the Ameraucana Alliance - there were TONS of great Ameraucana there and lots of folks looking to sell stock. MPC is about the worst place to try to source your birds as they are more "boutique" *and* a middle man vs. the actual hatchery so you are really getting your birds from Meyer, etc anyway, just paying extra because MPC is willing to act as the middle man and ship smaller quantities, etc than the large hatcheries they source through in the first place......so not only are you getting hatchery quality, but you are paying more than you would by going straight through the hatchery to begin with. Or, of course, the Ohio Nationals since you are right there in Ohio...but sometimes the smaller shows give you a better chance to pick up stock and get real face time with breeders of the birds you are looking to get your hands on.Yeah.A single chick on MyPetChicken is like $45!
And my family is into showing so they're even more expensive not to mention hardly anyone breeds them. I love EE's!![]()
Ooo, I bet she(?) is pretty!
