Granny's gone and done it again

Baby chick is bathed. It looks silver ? wet of course. i will get pics when I move it to the brooder. Ol mare said something about them coming splash and ??

I was saying maybe the blue is from blue/black/splash genes (as apposed to true blue genes) so you might get a variation in the blue color. I'm just guessing though. Does the new one have orange feet?

I do my best to keep those chicks heads above water but that one was just as determined to get it a drink of that hot bath water. How are these chicks knowing they need to get the water without being shown ? Makes me wonder if all of us dipping them is even necessary. I just always have these are beating me to it.
bet the last 3 dont hatch. I am tempted to try that Isa / polish. I really wanted to see that

yup , still not sure if it needs shoes. Might of just been because it set in the egg too long or sticky on them. They say curled toes is always from humidity.

Is it trying to walk? I've always wondered if you could give them some physical therapy, gentle toe stretches for them. I read something that said it can take them a day to get on their feet, so maybe wait until tomorrow before worrying about shoes. Speaking of tomorrow, #2 has school starting!!! Not sure if I'm ready, but guess a forced routine will be good for me. I have been very lazy this vacation time.

I have done PT and yes it helps. I did it with the tolbunt with the broken legs. Like anything else you have to keep right on it. so the shoes are good for the times you dont do PT.
CB went back last week. and boy was I glad. LOL

Granny, BIL drove our truck up to MIL's house (his mom) He's staying with her for a few days. Hubs will drive up tomorrow so he can go with them to the first oncology appointment on Monday. yay fun.

I don't often buy for myself unless it's online. Or animal stuff

Sound like me -- I have to struggle to spend $5 on myself - but I will shop for/spend on the animals (or kids, or DH) all day long!!

You just have a superior incubator... gets them to hatch sooner!

They sure were ready to eat and drink, but don't seem to be suffering the things that ail early chicks. Sure you are counting your days right?

I think of it similar to due dates in any animal - it's really just a guideline with some developing and being ready faster and others slower --- most of my broody hatches have been "early" if you go by the 21 day "rule" -- hatching at 18-20. There are so many variables that go into it that can speed up/slow down the process.

I go by Alley or Alex. My real name is Alexandra, but it's mostly just a name for paperwork or when I'm in trouble
