Look what I came home to. Glad they are all alive.
Surprise! That's the way to do it, no agonizing at all.

Ummm...I now have a dealer...my little sister went to work for Tractor Supply. Did you know that they give you discount cards for family members if you work for Tractor Supply? I mean, really, my chicken addiction got a bit out of control last year (granny remembers) and my sister dangles a card where I can buy chicks at a discounted price in front of me?
To top it off, my DH has caught the bug. Every morning he goes down to the coop and talks to the chickens. He collects the scrap bucket from his mom's house daily, when he goes to lunch, brings it home and visits with "Big Red, Big Man, and The Girls" every evening.
Just last week I caught him circling chicken breeds that he would like in MY hatchery magazine!
To top it off, I'd been clean for a year and my other dealer showed up at work today. I caved and bought a half a case of Thin Mints and Samoas. The cute smiles, green vests, and nostalgia gets me every year.
Now, if I can hide the Girl Scout Crack Cookies from the teenagers I spawned...
Men like chickens, they just don't know it.

It's historically been a man's hobby.

Morning all...we made it thru the storms..straight line winds.they did alot of damage.pikeville got it worse than we did...my net and cable have been off but it was a blessing that my power stayed on..lots of hard rain too..hope everyone else is ok....My baby chicks are growing like weeds..
hugs.gif
Glad you came through the storms okay. I didn't know your GGS had heart surgery. I expected my #1 son to have that after he was born because ultrasounds were showing irregular vesicles. I was assuming they were taking about heart vesicles, but I was wrong. They were talking about his brain.
hit.gif
Never thought I'd be wishing for heart surgery on an infant, but I knew they can do amazing things with the heart. The brain, not so much.
hmm.png
In the end, he turned out okay, but hubs and I went through a couple of really bad weeks when they were trying to decide if the condition was lethal. I was 5½ months along and had so many ultrasounds, I knew exactly what he looked like. 6'1" 18 yr old surly teenager now, working and going to college.

That is one nifty machine! That makes me want to hatch eggs! That makes it evil.

Worst shopping trip ever. We planned on big boys for breakfast because Tom has decided to try losing the sugar. There was not one parking space and its a big lot. driving around this bigger town its a friday and the 3rd. I couldnt take it. We ended up at Mcdonalds. Went to the fish store. Hood is $60.00 no way that is happening. Their fish sucked and had dead in every tank. Off to wal marts. They had a few fish I wouldnt mind. silver dollars seemed about right. Couldnt get a soul to help us. Store was laid out very different. I said screw it, lets just get grocerys. We finally made it to the food side just to realize I was hurting , tired and didnt have a clue what to buy. No chips, no donuts, meat cost too much. Came home with a ready to bake pizza and a plant for the tank. BTW, fish store says In. law says no real plants allowed. Now I have to go back again. Robert still sick Tom cant do more .

And this is what I come home to CBs school folder. Dog ate his homework .
Oh dear! Well, at least you've got picture proof for the teacher!

Jane, I am lost. Tom wont eat them veggies, they want him to eat 3xs a day. I cant afford an all meat diet much less cook 3xs a day. salad, thats all I got in my head.
hit.gif
Granny, he is going to have to change his lifestyle/eating habits if he wants to live without blowing out his kidneys. MIL's husband couldn't do it. Too addicted to the sugar. He's on dialysis now and not doing well. Not sure which one of them is going to go first.

There are lots of good crock pot recipes that use cheap cuts of meat and come out good with the healthy veggies cooked in. Not much cooking that way... throw stuff in the pot and go take a nap. Do you have a crock pot?

I spent the whole day gadding about. Had to take #1's car in for some repairs, so chose a shop near where he works. Dropped his car off, then I drove him to work and spent most of the day "shopping" and waiting for the mechanic to call. Left at 7:30 this morning and didn't get home until after 4. How can I be so tired after just wandering around a bunch of stores? I also went into TSC and got 3 bags of feed into a cart and had to have someone put them in the car for me... stupid dumb worthless back of mine!
he.gif
They have chicks and ducks there too. Happy to see that all the galvanized tubs they use for brooders were all set up within a fenced corral... no one except the employees can handle the chicks. Much better than a few years ago where it was all open for any little grubby hands to pick up the tiny babies. They also had big signs up saying these animals are NOT Easter presents. At least they are trying. I'm not getting chicks this year, coop is full. My 5 yr old New Hamp looks like she has internal laying going on, walking like a penguin, so I don't think she will be around much longer. I will miss her. She laid wonderful large eggs and is a nice hen.

Oh, Granny, what a frustrating day! What town/shop did you go to? If you're ever headed to Clarksville or Louisville I can suggest a couple of REALLY good shops for fish and supplies. Also, there is a FB group for Louisville Fish Keepers where you can post an "in search of" post for things you're looking for and get some really awesome deals. Oh, and the fish store you were at is full of crap because live plants are sold at a lot of really nice shops in Indiana - so another reason NOT to go back to them.

Sounds like a juicer is his only hope!

John Pinnette (comedian) has a really great bit about juicing.......

to you, Danna, sometimes a good cry is just the thing you need.

Officially jealous - hope you two manage to settle on an event and have a fabulous time!

Sounds like an absolutely exhausting day to me, Wishing, wandering around stores would make me tired from sheer boredom!
It's sad, but good at the same time, to see the changes so many places are making in how they handle their chicks -- if only people would keep their darn hands to themselves AND especially mind their little turds, er children, it wouldn't have to be that way. I was really impressed with the setup I saw at Wilco last year, will have to get some photos of their display units when I go chick shopping.
