you had 11 of 12 hatch ? How is that a bad hatch ?   I dont think I like the sex at hatch chicks.    Be careful in town. It is warm and windy here. 79 yesterday.

Not a bad hatch, just not a good one because I ended up with so many roos is all. Maybe your right on the auto sexing breeds granny. Least if you don't know you can usually still sell them as straightrun

From the standpoint of a homesteader or if I was raising them up to be my next layers I could dispose of the roos early on if I wanted.

Twist ~ Keep forgetting to tell you. From my observations & current SFH birds. They would not be a great forever breed as you desire. They are pretty to look at, but my 2 year olds lay a just barely large egg & my year olds are still laying a pullet size egg. And their numbers are up & down on how many they lay in a week. Let's just say, they are not egg machines if that is what you are looking for in a bird.
