Granny's gone and done it again

Our first frost is October 20th on average here. Hope it is late this year. I need to build some hot frames.
Ours are whenever mother nature is on a rant. We had a slight frost at the end of August, then jumped to the 90°s last week. Crazy weather this year. July & August were very cool & rainy. September has been beautiful. Praying we have a nice Oct. as well.

Had to go out and lure Crazy Ginger back inside the chicken yard. She ate a few seeds, then went back to squawking, and I fully expected her to fly up on the shed again, so waited a bit, ready to get the hose out. Fortunately, she finally remembered to go in the coop to lay. Haven't head any screaming since, so she must still be working on it.

This is my second Welsummer, and they both scream like crazy prior to laying. It is VERY LOUD. I thought it was just the older one being "special" but now I think it might be a breed thing. Anyone else have noisy Wellies? Grace will scream literally for HOURS some days, usually because someone is on her favorite nest, but some days it's because no one is in her favorite nest. Louder than any rooster, that's for sure. I might have to go with Marans for my dark eggs. Lola was a nice hen and quiet. I miss Lola.

Still waiting on Spike to lay. Going to ask Colonel Sanders to have a talk with her!

Ginger just gave the all clear, so I'm going to get her egg before the stupid jay do. Back in a flash!
I had 2 Wellies the first year I got into chickens. Oh my goodness they were so loud & would go on for hours. Never ever will I keep them again. I've got a couple of CCL that squack something awful. Have had to resort to going to the coop & throwing out the hen that was in the nest boxes they want just to try to shut them up, lol. I have also found that when my 13 Serama's sound the alarm to a predator it is ear shattering. They are by far the loudest, more so then the large fowl birds.

does that mean your veggies are gone ?
Probably, they were coming to an end anyhow. I've got lots a mators in the garage. We picked last night because we had heard they were calling for frost. Still hope my green beans keep slowly giving me beans yet. Have had the boys today unexpectedly so haven't had a chance to look at much.
