abalone suck themselves down on the rocks. You need a pry bar to get them off. The inside of the shells are pretty.
That's the part you eat. Sliced thin, pounded thoroughly to tenderize before cooking. Similar to eating clams.
Right as rain! We had a terrible fire here in California about a month ago. Had to evacuate for a week, and the firefighters saved our home and neighborhood twice, but it was very close. Luckily we got all the animals out, so didn't have to worry about them.
