I read on FB today that a house caught on fire not too far from me. Reason ? heat pipe caught their insulation on fire. I was surprised to see it was an old barn with the sliding door and the works. The insulation ? Straw. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Well, Tom just brought his new blanket in and said he wants me to take it back to the store . Its too hot.

Anything you make with beef... beef stew, spaghetti sauce, stroganoff. Good with chicken too. I use it in sauteed mushrooms and onions. Use red wine in a marinade for just about any kind of meat. There are tons of recipes. Of course you have to be able to get the bottle open first!

Those people were obviously deprived as children... No one read the 3 Little Pigs to them!

I saw a show about building straw bale houses, mostly for life in the dessert. Great insulation. You build adobe or stucco walls on the outside of stacked bales, so your walls are a couple feet thick. Cheap and relatively safe and very energy efficient... 'cept when it catches on fire... or the mice move in!
