Yeah. Are you okay with that? They have such a bad rep in some places.

Is he an early riser? :D

I’ve always wanted a pit. Always. And my mom said no. (I was 25+). Then we always said “not at camp” because we didn’t want any reason for parents to feel unsafe dropping off their kids. Pits, rotts, German shepherds, dobermans, all on this list we made up. So when she started looking like she might have pit blood, I really started thinking.

If I’m judging a dog by its breed, or by the breed it LOOKS like but may not even be, then what message am I perpetuating? Kids really pick up on stuff like that.

“She looks like a dog that gets a bad reputation so she’s not welcome at camp.”

“She’s mixed, so she’s not welcome.”

“She’s different.”

It’s all judging based on looks, which is the exact opposite of what we try to teach and do. I felt really hypocritical. And people who are already afraid of big dogs are afraid of labs, we have learned through the years. With good training Josie can really be an ambassador, just like friendly roosters and tasty veggies.

So, that’s the plan.

Jep started crowing at like 5 and HAS. NOT. STOPPED. :barnie

Everything you say is true. I have heard so much about them . Mostly full blooded is great dogs and mixes are mean. I got DD one and at 6 weeks it bit her in the face and left a scar. That is the ONLY experience I have with them. I didnt even know what a pit was.
