I have a chicken with progressive paralysis. I think she might have Merick disease. I am taking her to the UC davis backyard poultry to have her euthanized and a port mortem done.

Im sorry to hear that. I thought I had the same thing going on the other day. Classic meraks stance. One leg to the front one back. I went out next day to cull and she run from me. She still has an injury but 80% better.

it was pretty cool where I took the bird. The vet came out and talked to me. She said not sell or give away any of my birds and give all new chicks the vaccine. I wont cull until they go down. She said wont be affected.

well if it , it is. I guess its in the dirt. Dont really know how you can screen for it. The vaccine is 100 percent effective. so I will know when I get the report. I would rather know than not.
