he was fat. and lazy and I gave them a lot of corn over the winter. He was very pale . No eye bubbles yesterday or day before I heard rattles for the first time.

Peach aint dead and if she was it would be from old age. I have had one chicken ONE die from old age and thats because he was old when I bought him.

Finally got the whole coop and the nest boxes cleaned out! Phew. Glad that is done.
I cut the wood for the doors of the brooder. I am thinking of putting viewing holes in the doors so i can check on them without opening the doors.

Don't cry. It was a long time ago that I posted them. Buster Posey is cuckoo, Figgy Pudding is a jubilee project (emphasis on the project), and Lola was a black Marans that came with them. They were the replacement chicks for the ones the breeder sent that had the CRD. Lola got killed by a raccoon one night when I forgot to lock up couple years ago.

Let me see if I have pics that are post worthy.

its not you Wishing, Honest. Nerves are shot. I took that mama and littles and threw her in a dirty cage with some clean water and no heat. Its all I had left in me.

But they all die from something. If you let yours out, none would be very old because they'd be eaten. A lot of people can't let their chickens run, or they do and accept the losses. Old just means they become more susceptible to things that kill them. Most of mine have died young from something.
