Granny's gone and done it again

I just called granny, Tom answered the phone. He couldn’t hear me very well. Tom said granny was gone to go get fire wood. She would be back later. And that is all I know.

Air quality is now up to the next level. Very unhealthy. Sore throat, headache. Of course I can’t imangine what the people in the fire area are going through. We are very blessed.

yes tried that no budging and had to actually jump into the air and land on the fork to drive it into the ground. And I sure as heck am NOT going to temp fate for 40 feet of carrots. Plus I still could NOT wiggle/jiggle/plead/ or pry the buggers out.

BUT yes the carrots are MUCH sweeter after a few freezes.

Maybe on a warmish day, if you have any of those, soak the row down real good? Maybe that would make too big a mess. I could see myself trying to at least but then I'm one of the worlds' biggest riggers.

And if he is accepted and still goes to his first choice (which I gather isn't going to be a challenge for him) will he figure he is so smart he can coast?

No, no coasting. I don't know if he has confidence in his ability to slog through what it takes to get the top grades... never really challenged himself. He has always been a kid who wants to LEARN things... doesn't really cared about earning A's. I've seen him spend an hour on one challenging math problem, and not do the other problems on the page because "I already know how to do those." Once he understands the concepts, he gets disinterested in the busy work (that most teachers assign ad nauseam) so he ends up with average grades but high standardized test scores. He has to keep a min 3.0 GPA or he loses the scholarship, so he's going to have to prioritize getting the grade. I'm hopeful. He says earning an A to keep getting money is more motivating than just making himself look good!

Sounds like the phone is back working but not the power. Map says there are still 2000 customers without power in her county.

Terrible when it's that bad. We have improved, so you are getting all our smoke.
They are making progress on the fire. Death toll has risen to 64 and number of missing people is over 600. Very bad.
