Tom always said he heard too many horror stories about back/neck surgery to ever have it done. It will be interesting to see which of us has the worst bones. We are both getting the same test on the 11th

I refused on the grounds that when they wanted to do the surgery 20 yrs ago I had a better chance of dying or being confined to a wheelchair than of the surgery actually fixing anything.

Hubby has a titanium bar in his neck. They had to do emergency surgery on his neck, he was losing the use of his left arm.

Emergency yes I could see, but since at that point, I had been living in a pain/numbness cycle for over 6 yrs. I was not really wanting to risk death or not walking ever again. Husband has been instructed in the event of an emergency to do as he thinks is best.
26+ yrs later and I am so used to the pain/numbness cycles that when either is absent I get scared. Lower back is in the pain cycle now. The neck is doing the numb one-second pain the next thing.

I was not in favor of the odds and the guy I was with at the time if I had ended in a wheelchair would have dumped me in a heartbeat.

I spent 6 yrs changing doctors every 3 months cause all they did was hand me scripts for stronger and stronger pills. I did not want to become an addict. Finally lost it on a doctor when he handed me a script for Percocet. I tore it up in front of him and tossed it at him while screaming I want to know WHY I am in pain!
Never had a doctor's jaw drop like that. His nurse came running in the room because I scared her with how loud I screamed it. Got an MRIs and nerve studies and specialists right after. The other doctors who I left ever three months put in my file I was a hypochondriac and drug seeking. I just wanted to know why I was in all the pain.

Sigh. So. Sdg&e is supposed to come out today. Not raining but still kinda damp out there. I asked hubs to call them while I hopped in the shower to confirm we’re still on (he wants to go on an adventure seeking a motor home)
