Granny's gone and done it again

Hubs and I were driving into town, and saw an unusual roadkill

River otter. Poor thing. We couldn't tell what it was at first. I made hubs turn around and he pulled it off to the side of the road. You can't tell from the pic, but they have the most beautiful fur. So plush. There aren't any rivers near, but a couple of reservoirs, one on each side of the road. We think she was trying to get over there...
View attachment 1991020 It must have just happened. She was still bleeding out her nose. She was just there on the road. Wish folks would just slow down a bit. God forbid it might take 60 extra
seconds to get wherever they are going.

I hate to see them on the road. Seems like when school starts is when I see the most of them. Something about that time of year. I haven’t looked it up.

Hi Camping, Boy kitty is really growing ! How are you settling in ? And the kids ? It will be a new school for them?

I’m not settled at all. My eye twitches a lot. The lenders keep pushing back closing, which makes us nervous. It should be fine, but you know, jitters.

Kids are doing great. New school starts next week. They’ll be fine. We made a meal for first responders yesterday and my kids had a great time touring the fire station and playing with the pastor’s boys.

Dont bleeding stop when they die ? Ya, I know it does so if it was still bleeding it was still alive. On its way out im sure but does DH have gloves ?
The blood flowed out when he grabbed her by the tail. She was dead and gone. No glove, but plastic bag over his hand.

That picture is not what I expected of Ca. the ground looks like good dirt. I expected sand. the overgrowth looks lush and the dirt is moist. I think I expected it to be more barren.
There is some good soil in the valleys. This is vineyard country now. We stopped on an access drive. Not sure why they still have a portapotty out... vineyard work is pretty much done for the season

Lot of rain lately, so it's turning green

so is that trees and dead grasses on the hill? The grape vines look dead/dormant.

So far so good! Well, except for the twitchy eye. I get that from lack of sleep. Makes me feel like a disturbed individual... like someone who would drive a windowless van offering candy to strangers... :hmm
