makes sense to me. except cytokine storm ? Is that everything hitting all at once ?It's a brand new virus and they still haven't gotten accurate or complete info out of China. It could be a long time before we really KNOW all there is to know about covid.
They can be pretty sure from symptoms, especially the bilateral pneumonia, that a person has covid. The lack of accurate tests is very frustrating, and I think they are trying to use the available ones to best advantage. If a person is really bad and needing a ventilator and has the other symptoms of the "cytokine storm" that's an accurate indication of covid. Flu patients do not get the immune overreaction that causes those extreme symptoms. Patients with mild symptoms are harder to diagnose, but those aren't the ones dying. Also, flu tests are readily available and used to rule out flu in most patients, so covid is then presumed. It's not a perfect system, but it's probably fairly accurate.
Gotta let the dogs out. BRB
