Granny's gone and done it again

It's supposed to be mostly rainy for the next two days. :( at least it cooled off, but not a good time to work outside. Maybe I will do some house cleaning, or even clean out the barn. I hate cleaning, but someone has to do it.

I used to drink mostly milk when I was a kid, up into my teen years. Once I went to University, I started drinking a lot of soda. Bad idea.
I'm so lucky I've never been much of a milk or soda pop drinker. Maybe coffee will rust my pipes too, but at least it's not sugar.

AND, wanted to say... the idea about wetting the babies food was MOST EGGCELLENT! They got a pan of wetted food this morning with a few little pieces of watermelon on top for their 3rd week birthday.. which is tomorrow. They all have watermelon feets now thinking it was great to stand on.
And, Saw two of them in the sandbox taking a dust bath today. One looked like he was doing the side stroke and went nearly from one end of the sandbox to the other swimming and throwing sand everywhere with his feet.. it was hilarious to watch. It was one of the bright yellow ones that looks like a favorelle chick. His feathering is coming in white, but he has a red belly now from the sand.

Good morning everyone.

We woke up to cloudy skies, fog and rumbles of thunder this morning. The wind picked up and leaves started to fall from the walnut trees in our timber. The first of the Fall I suspect although while it's cooler here it definitely isn't fall-ish yet.

I looked at our extended forecast and they are predicting well below normal temps through the middle of Sept. While it isn't in full swing, I can sense a change in the air. It's dark before 8 PM now and there is a feeling of 'hurry up, not much more time to get projects done' that is spurring me to make the most out of the day.

This week we are getting lumber delivered to work on some home projects. A new, wider door for our shop entry and wood to start on my coop expansion project which will be about 3 days worth of work but save me a load of time and comfort for both me and the bachelors.

@Granny Hatchet so sorry your back is flaring up on you. Here's an invite to visit my 'Keeping Chickens When You Have Arthritis' thread. You aren't alone and there are tons of ideas and suggestions on how to make life easier with chickens when you are suffering from chronic pain.

In the mean time, feel better.:hugs

Hey, @Beer can You found where Cap and I have been hanging out. Welcome to the conversation!

Almost gave up mowing this morning.. The Remington threw two sets of line in less than 20 minutes, so I got out the Cub Cadet hand held weed eater and it blew a line in minutes. Ok, so just take your time... maybe there's a snake or something I'm not supposed to meet over where I need to knock it down. Just 3 weeks and this is what I was clearing again.

Some of it is pretty like the fern wrapping back up a mimosa tree I left. It has the red star like flowers. Butterflies like them.

By the time I was done I was covered from head to toes with grass and weed bits. Even had to spit often as I'm a mouth breather and pieces would fly in there too.
