Granny's gone and done it again

I really like setting things up so they get "caught in the act," even when I'm not there. I think it was the Koehler book that taught me how to set up what I now call the "Trash Monster," with an empty soda can with some dried beans in it and a length of dental floss, thread or fishing line tied to, say, a hot dog in the otherwise clean kitty box. The can should be perched above the box, ready to pounce as soon as the pup grabs it. This works on anything you want to teach pup not to grab. It doesn't have to be a hot dog. Use imagination! It usually only takes once!
Koehler methods were probably the most harsh.

That's nice, Wishing!
Thank you. Hubs built the "roof" for me a couple of years ago to keep some ground dry for the mob during the rainy season. It was funny to see all the big girls crammed under there during a heavy rain. We build a second one out of tin roofing to keep their favorite dust bath pit dry, so I don't feel too bad taking the wooden one from them.
Mostly they like to go under the redwood tree. It stays pretty dry under there. It's like kids playing fort.

I really wanted to make apple jelly this fall. Probably wouldnt of been able to if I had found the jar lids.
It took me 2.5 hours to peel all those eggs. Was watching movies, while doing it. Any egg that didn't look right, went to Lucy. Any egg that did not peel right, went to another bowl for egg salad.

You could have done it, but then have recovery time.

Our dominant female Red Heeler still grabs the males and her sister by the muzzle when she is trying to correct their behavior. She is amazing. They are almost 2 now and she will work hard to keep the peace. Tonight one of the males was asking for attention and I was petting him when Sid's sister, Rocki came up and wanted attention. When she wants attention she will growl at the boys and take charge. Usually when she does this I push her away until she remembers her manners. Tonight, wanting to diffuse the situation, Sid stepped between them, pushed Varn out of the way and gave sister Rocki the stink eye. Then I got a kiss like she was saying, 'Didn't I do good mom!'

Raising these five cattle dogs has been a learning experience not only for them but for us also.

Heading for bed here. Y'all have a good rest.

Yup, is why I adapted them. But I felt he had useful general philosophies. He was practical in his approach. Would rather use an emphatic correction the dog would respond to than hundreds of insipid ones that were just annoying nagging that accomplished nothing. I hate seeing an owner tug, tug, tugging on a leash and the dog ignoring it. Or a dog dragging the owner around, coughing as it leans its entire weight against its esophagus, when I know that can be fixed in about two minutes.

My dogs get into the litter box every chance they get. I used to try and make them stop then I thought, wait a min,. They are keeping the box clean for me ! Bahahahaaa gross
Eating the cat litter isn’t good. Cat poop can have parasites, ect. Maybe that is why your dogs are getting sick. The cat litter can cause a blockage.
