Granny's gone and done it again

I found him! Geeze don't know how I got so lucky.

He was onery. One day he decided to have a go at me feet first. He had grown a remarkable set of spurs on him even at a year of age. He was about 6 months old when this pic was taken.

So when he did the old 'I'm boss and you aren't' trick, I did what I always do and picked him up by his ankles. As bad luck goes, he somehow locked up his spurs and suddenly one broke off at the leg with a pop I could hear. When that happened, he froze, no more flapping no more squawking, no more, I'm boss and you aren't attitude. It was like 'oh crap! You ARE the boss!' and I never had a moment's trouble with him after that. I hated it when he died. He had sired one little pullet chick who lived to 3 months when she died from Marek's. Beautiful cross with one of my Welly's I think. She looked like a Creole and was the sweetest little girl.

Afterwards I found out that buff O's are highly susceptible to Marek's disease.
He is a beauty! Sorry, was. I need some blue or lavenders in my flock...

Some spacey news... on Mon the 21st, Jupiter and Saturn will be next to each other in the night sky. (They actually are not close, but will be almost aligned in our view from earth.) This is the closest they have been for 800 years! It is a once in a lifetime event.
We wouldn't have known about this except my #1son noticed what he thought were planets in the sky as he was leaving work.

This was what we saw down the street from home. Moon on left. Two bright dots on right are Saturn (upper) and Jupiter, the larger one.

Through the telescope, you could see the rings on Saturn, but they don't show up in the pictures. You can see their shape. And you can see 4 moons of Jupiter, all in a line.

The moon was pretty too.

So if you have clear skies, look to the west, low on the horizon. We will try to get more pictures on Monday!
