Granny's gone and done it again

Hot smoky day. Hiding inside with the windows shut. Glad I got my chicken chores done early before it got hot.

Snack time!
Tippy, where are you chick-chick? Tippy!
Here she comes. Egg laying can wait until after snacks.

Some of the older hens got some too.

Haven't checked on them since this morning. Hope we get some eggs!
It looks like the color of my place! Everything gets a nice amber glow to it from the sun coming through the clouds.

The forecast here says smoke for today. I might need to switch to N95 masks

When I moved here I heard for the first time of freezing fog. For some reason that tickled me. Who ever heard of fog freezing! But calling for smoke is just sad and horrible. I hope it clears for you soon.

Ron, I looked up your area on Purple Air this morning. You have it worse than us. The smoke does cut the sun some, but the old hens are hot tonight, poor things.

View to the NW just now. Little orange glow and the hazy hills show the smoke.

Potting table #1. Up at the far back by the well and the pullets' coop.

The old piece of plywood set up underneath keeps the water from splashing me. Need to put a drain under the sink, but I'm lazy. Plywood works fine. My kale cutting board is on the middle shelf... piece of nice walnut.

Potting table #2. Near the house and old coop. I moved it under the buckeye tree to try to give it the extra water. Didn't help this year. Leaves are all gone, brown and crunchy... you can see them on the shelf underneath.

I asked hubs for this one to be simpler... so I could move it around without help. Perfect for me.

I cleaned all the leaves out of the sink and brushed off the top.
Really makes changing the water easier on my back. :love

Hot hens needed fresh water!

Oh I love those Wishing! Wish I had had something like that. I can see where it would help the back a lot. Lucky lady . He did a great job on them.
Yup, I got a good guy!

Granny, here's how hubs set the screen on the stakes. Used screws, actually. Finishing nails might have split the wood. Now I don't knock the screen off when I am picking. Mashed a plant once.

Cheap rollers on the bottom of this screen wore out. That's why it got turned into a kale shade.
