I always had mostly hatchery stock Silkies. My girls laid very well, and we’re excellent mothers. I miss my sweet Silkies. If I ever go back into Chicken keeping, I’m definitely getting more Silkies. Super fun. I’ve had my silkies raise a variety of birds for me. Including ducklings, guinea keets, and once a little quail. Of course they raised chicken chicks too. Miss those chickens!!

I should add that the brown water in those pics was electrolytes… not just filth

Silkies are the best. They might be what I get first, but it depends on availability of all the breeds I want. Yours were so precious

Had a visiter today. The gal that took my pup months ago came by again. She just lives up the street from me. She had promised to bring him by every now and again. The size! And I thought I was having problems with him smaller! The reason I couldn't keep him. Bathing him was hard on me. That was at 6 weeks. He's only 6 months here. The vet figures he'll be around 70 lbs. He's 51 lbs as of Oct 19th!
