Granny's gone and done it again

well I did check in and off to lay down, I seem to have all of the usual (for me) side effects of a major migraine EXCEPT the actual headach.

Did take Mike back out to the f/ranch yesterday and ALL of the main herd were calm and settled down. 3 days to late.

Plumber came this am and unplugged 2 Tubs this am so Angie just needs to finish cleaning and I will have 2 monthlies ready to rent

If there are batteries, it is not a land line anymore. Landlines did not have batteries and worked with power outages.
Phone guy explained it when we had a prolonged power outage during the 2017 fires. We could make calls, but our phone did not ring when someone called us. (This is an old school corded phone). He said there is a little electrical pulse sent on the line to the phone to make it ring. There are battery backups throughout the system (in those big metal boxes you see the at&t techs fiddling with) so it still works during an outage, but there are so many people living out here now, the battery runs out quickly. It's still apparently analog, but I don't know much about it.
Eventually we lost the ability to call out too. Lucky for us our cell phones worked...for a few days anyway. Do cell towers have backup batteries?

You now have an digital phone and not a land line.

Nearly all phones are digital now and part of an internet connection.
My dad has a number he uses on his computer that allowed long distance calls on his land line. It's all Greek to me. I don't really understand the difference, but the phone guys told us they are phasing out land lines.

No. It came from Amazon.
Maybe someone in Brazil? :D
