So can you use skim milk or does it take whole? We only drink fortified skim. But I do have Chobani plain Greek yogurt on hand so it would be fun to try if I can do it with skim milk.Is fairly easy. Heat milk to 180, cool to 110. Add yogurt starter, which can be some purchased plain yogurt, mix well. I put mine in half-pint jars, put lids on. Place jars in warm place for 4-6 hours, refrigerate over night without disturbing. Enjoy!
My warm place is a roasting pan containing a few inches warm water in oven with light on.
I make 15 jars, using 3 qt 2% organic milk and a packet of dry starter powder I get from Amazon, but you can Google how much milk to how much fresh yogurt. You can also use a slow cooker and do it all in one pot. Google is your friend! A candy thermometer is a good investment!
