Granny's gone and done it again

My sister's dog was having all sorts of allergy type problems and chewing her feet bloody. The vet said to bathe her weekly... use a bit of Dawn dish soap to get the greasey layer off and he sold her a gentle shampoo to soak on her after.

My sis also got a new food. Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin and stomachs. She has tried all sorts of specialty foods for the dog, and this Purina, along with the bathing, seems to be working.

This is Rosie. She's a little bigger now, but not much. Yorkie cross, we think.

Also... probiotics! I just put my dogs on it. If their gut isn't healthy, they will lick, bite, chew, and/or scratch. I also figured out they were allergic to chicken! Finding a lot of dogs are. That allergy can trigger those symptoms. I stopped the chicken, changed to a salmon mix if dog food, and I'm giving them probiotics. They aren't scratching incessantly any more.

Interesting thing. I had my son with Spina Bifida back in the 80's..81 is when he was born. I was bombarded with questions. One being if I had a microwave. 😟 Scary question because I did. They didn't know that much about microwaves back then. Well, after I was part of a 5 year study, they figured out that this number one birth defect at the time was mostly because of the lack of folic acid. Yes, taking those prenatal vitamins right when you think you're going to try to get pregnant, or if you just found out. The first trimester...3 months...is when the spine is in jeopardy of not closing all the way. I felt guilty for a while. I made sure I was taking those vitamins before I tried for Austin!
They were just hunting for correlations asking those questions. Helps them decide where to start, what to study in depth.
In CA, any business that uses a microwave has to have a warning sign. I'm not exactly sure what the danger is, but we are warned!
Sadly, just about everything in CA has a warning on it, so nobody pays any attention to them any more. :hmm

My Yorkies were chewing their paws. We stopped all chicken in food and treats. They stopped chewing their paws. they now get diamonds naturals lamb and rice. I like having all the dogs on the same flavor of food. Since the large breeds are on Lamb and rice
My vet has suggested lamb and rice.

Yep.. and I became a part of the answers. 😊

When I started them on it it was lamb, chicken or beef and the one will not touch beef. so lamb it was. We can't do Salmon due to the husband being allergic to seafood. Like to the point if he touches dog treats made with any seafood he starts itching and gets a mild rash.
