Agreed! You CAN do it!You can do it Granny! I will get the drawings mailed out soon.
Thanks, Granny, that really helps. I will go with SLW then since I only have room for four.both!
I have had both.marans lay the darker egg but not the best layers. I like wyandottes. always sweet birds.
Thanks, Emma, why?I’d go with marans.
Why not Wyandottes?Definitely not Wyandottes. I recommend Welsummers. In my egg photo, they are the dark brown layers, I personally prefer dark brown eggs with speckles.
I've had both SLW and GLW. They were both nice birds. Whenever I have breeds that don't stick out in my memory, it indicates to me that they get along well with others and no drama. Thanks, Granny, that really helps. I will go with SLW then since I only have room for four.
Because you said you wanted dark layers. Why not Wyandottes?
Thanks, Kelsey, goodness! I thought my mind was made up, lol!Marans, Barnevelders or Welsumers for dark eggs. Wyandottes eggs are not dark.
They lay cream, not dark at all. My GLWs are the two at the top of the pecking order. They don't get along with the rest of the flock very well. My two are grouchy though. They are old, still lay well, but need constant care. Stacey is a GLW, and she constantly gets a poopy bottom. "Poofier" breeds tend to get poopy butts more. Orps, Wyandottes, Brahmas, SFs, things like that. So far, none of my Welsummers have that issue. Might just be Stacey though. She keeps me on my toes. Why not Wyandottes?
Stay warm, Pert!Yes, it was freezing rain all yesterday afternoon. Streets were pretty bad. Then we go about 3 inches of snow overnight. It's not gonna get above freezing until Saturday noon so it's gonna stick around.
