Granny's gone and done it again

No apologies needed. Welcome to Granny's.
I'd love to hear more about beneficial herbs for the garden. We put out marigolds... just in case. And they're pretty.
They are pretty, but it's really the chemicals of the plant that do the detering, so at the end of the season, chop them up and leave in the soil.
There's debate about which vegs to plant together or not. I have all of my tomatoes, peppers & egg plants together. Then you pretty much plant a marinara/salsa: oregano, marjoram, basil, parsley,
cilantro. You can put carrots with your tomatoes.
It's called companion planting- plants that benefit each other by enriching the soil or deterring pests. One yr rabbits ate my young eggplants. The next year I planted them in the middle of the chives. Turns out rabbits hate chives and left the eggplants alone.
The guineas must've fig out this deterrent as well, as they like to dust bath and munch on chives.
The brassicas get dill and sage. Broccoli gets rosemary, cabbage gets cilantro. But cauliflower hates those two herbs.🤷‍♀️
Borage replenishes the soil with nutrients, heavy feeders like the brassicas get planted w/plants that restore nitrogen, like beans and peas.
It seems to work pretty well for us. Plus my memory is horrible, so I spend the winter dulldrums planning out the next season's garden & refreshing my memory on who makes good neighbors.😁

Oh, and for functional pretty, nastorium. The bugs will flock to it instead of the veggies.

yup,
Coal, gas and oil. Fossil fuel power plants burn coal or oil to create heat which is in turn used to generate steam to drive turbines which generate electricity ...
Water and wind can also turn the turbines to make electricty. And solar panels.
