Granny's gone and done it again

Yay! We've made it up to 0°! Break out the bikinis!

I have to admit that what I really hate about winter besides the freaking miserable cold is that it takes 1/2 an hour to get the heavy farm coat on along with heavy pants, socks and boots, two pairs of gloves, a scarf and hood just to go outside for 15 minutes. Then come in and do it all again in reverse.

Spring. I'm definitely a spring person. Along with summer.
Fall isn't bad, while it lasts.

It's still 0 here feels like -22 so the wind must have died down a bit. Can't really tell though. My coop sits on top of a little ridge and when I hit the top of the hill and that wind hits you in the face across the pasture from the Northeast, I tells ya, if you don't have religion before you got it then. It makes your eyes and nose water.

DH went out and checked my heat lamp and gave it the stamp of approval. I unplugged one water heater. The cold is just over powering it right now. There was an inch of ice on top of the water bowl. I brought it in to thaw. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm going to unplug the lamp about 8 and head out in the morning and turn it back on again. It's supposed to be a tad warmer here tomorrow. High of 13 above.

I forgot about fall. Yes, Sept through October here are perfect. Even the first couple of weeks of November can be nice.

It was definitely warmer out in the coop. The birds still weren't happy but they were more active and I actually got two eggs out of the bantams and one of the Fayoumis. I told them their dedication in nasty weather was greatly appreciated.

Stay safe everyone. We didn't get a lot of snow. Maybe 2.5 inches but the wind and cold are brutal behind the snow. Don't go out unless you absolutely have to and if you have to make sure your car's gas tank is full and you have emergency go pack along with you.....just in case.

I still need to go out later to check the chickens and feed the goats some more.
