Granny's gone and done it again

I walked away from my cane at Wallmart (misspelling deliberate) not once, but TWICE today. So after shopping I took it next door to the jeweler's to see if they can engrave my name (first initial and last name only) and phone number on it. Left it there until it's done; I have a spare. May be a few days till they can get to it.

He seemed really troubled when we got him. He was seriously underfed, almost skin and bones. It seemed he was very close to starvation with how he wanted to wolf down all types of food we would offer except actual puppy food. The food he wanted the most was the 12% horse sweet feed that we have for the horses. We feed a better quality large breed puppy chow. We feed two varieties at once, one is soaked and the other is dry. The picture you see now is one of him being in good robust health. I think with continued training he'll turn out to be a great farm dog/farm hound.
At first for a couple weeks after we got him whenever we would sit and hold him he needed to be chewing on something, usually it ended up being my carhart coat sleeve or my pant leg and then eventually he would switch to a sucking motion and fall asleep. We gave him a LOT of attention and slowly he did it less and less to the extent that he has quit the chewing/sucking completely. He is a lovebug to the extreme, a very licky lovebug.
Our 2nd Sheltie, Sammy, was also a snarfer of food and was under weight when we got him at 15 months. Hard to tell because of all that coat but his ribcage was a sharp, pointed "V" shape. Anyway, we recently bought him a feeding dish that slows him down some. It's part maze, part .... spinner toy, lol! As he eats, the food in an upright spinning canister falls down into the maze part of the bowl for him to work at getting out. It does slow him down .... some!

He has free choice food and only eats when he needs it. No more scarfing it down,
