So no chicken manure?Okra needs a low nitrogen fertilizer high in phosphate and high in potassium. I have some 5-15-30 and okra thrives with small amount applied as the season moves along. Use no fertilizer until it is a few inches high. Okra doesn't do well where there are nematodes. There is an organic solution to get rid of nematodes. It's actually another nematode that eats the bad nematode. It should be thinned to one plant every foot and the rows 4' apart. Gloves and log sleeves to harvest. From what you have posted this is the best I can do to help get bit of okra growing. It does take some space as it will spread and sucker out.
We put nematodes on our lawn to eat flea larva. So no chicken manure?
I have tried to grow okra here. It didn’t work. Okra is so good for you. It’s the slimy stuff in it that is good. lubricants your joint
Grann how did your dr. Visit go? I woke up with a cold. Just tested and I have Covid. I knew I did because I never run a temp
So much for getting anything done.Hope you feel better soon!
Thank youHope you feel better soon!
I think the ratio of chicken manure is 1-2-1. Not a good ratio for a lot of things with out some regular mineral fertilizer to balance it the way it needs to be. 0-0-60 can be added to chicken manure to get a better ratio. It's not always available but potassium nitrate is a higher potassium and lower nitrogen mineral mix. Sadly a lot of gardens fail when nothing but a compost mix that is great for some things if all that is used for everything. A one size fits all approach. Use what's good on sweet corn on your beans and you can grow a lot of vines on the beans but not many beans. What's good on beans will not produce my corn. Sweet potatoes and okra are finicky as to what they like to eat.So no chicken manure?
Ok thank you for the advice. We pretty much just wing it. Spaghetti squash grows really well. Watermelon not so much.I think the ratio of chicken manure is 1-2-1.
