Granny's gone and done it again

Sometimes we steam okra over a pot of fresh shelled black eyed peas. Stick a fork right behind the stem end and it will slide down as easy as a raw oyster. I do chew mine though. Another thing okra is good for is my lipid panel. It works on cholesterol. It has the good kind of fiber.

I need a lot of things for my well being in these times at my age. :)

We eat a lot of it. Sometimes a blackened type in an iron skillet with a little mix of oil and water. The water comes out of the okra. (I think)l It's a different kink of frying with no slime. Okra originated in the Nile Valley of Egypt. I have some cow horn okra seed to plant this coming season. I've seen it and eaten it but this will be the first time growing it. It can be larger and still be very tender than the regular varieties normally planted. I'll still plant a plot of Clemson Spineless.

No matter how good so many vegetables are good for us there are people who will not do green. We kept a young lady when she was in HS and she would not taste anything that was green period. We tried to explain that green had nothing to do with taste but she would not try green no matter how healthy it was for her. She was a typical Burger and fry person.

Sad, especially if she was depending on the commercial providers.

That is sad. I know I raised my daughter on bad food. If I knew better I wouldn’t have done it. Kids will eat what you serve them if they get hungry enough. If you only serve good home cooked food that’s what they like.

I watched a documentary on an autistic child who would only eat two things. Because her parents were trying a keto for her to help her health they cut every out except good home cooked food. It took her a while and she had many meltdowns but once she started eating the good food she couldn’t get enough.
The magic pill. Fascinating.

There are things I don't like and there are things I can't get down. As long as I can get it down I usually will eat a little because I believe there may be something in there I really need. Example is ripe olives or black olives. The ones that get put on pizza. I always get some and eat them. Some things like canned rutabagas and the stuffed green olives will make me throw up if I try to even chew them.... Must not need them for sure. :)
