In the heart of Perry County, Kentucky, during the 1940s, the local grocery store serves as more than just a place to pick up provisions—it's a vibrant hub of community life. As the sun casts its warm glow over the storefront, the sweet strains of a guitar drift out into the air, drawing in curious passersby. Inside, a man with weathered hands strums his instrument with practiced ease, his voice carrying the soulful melodies of the mountains.
Surrounding him, a group of children gathers, their eyes wide with wonder as they listen to the music that fills the air. For them, the grocery store becomes a stage, and the man with the guitar, a maestro weaving tales of love, loss, and the timeless beauty of Appalachia. In the background, two other men pause in their shopping to listen, their faces alight with nostalgia as they reminisce about days gone by. In this moment, amidst the simple pleasures of music and community, the grocery store transcends its humble surroundings, becoming a sanctuary of joy and connection in the heart of Perry County.
This is the county I was born in
Are you one of the kids in the picture?

How was your day?
Alright. I got sick in the morning from a migraine and it came back in the afternoon so I had to take the med twice today but now it’s stayed away so far. Mentally I was better in the morning. Now I’m iffy.
