About 1970 we came home from shopping one day and found all of our RIR hens dead. German Shepard dog running loose tore into the run and killed them everyone. The owner of the dog came to us and told us it was there dog and bought us replacement grown hens. Still not the same as nothing replaces pets for the sake of just money.
