Momma has to go for surgery on Friday
They're going to do some artful cutting to the tendon at her wrist and also move its location at her elbow. She's been struggling this year with mysterious arm/hand symptoms and they finally decided on this course of action. It's not going to address her neck issue though.
I would feel better if she was going to the same surgery center that repaired my thumb tendon after I slashed it in half trying to cull a rooster. They were so kind and reassuring there. The nurse lingered at my bedside during the whole pre-op and brought me a warm blanket. It makes a huge difference when you have someone so supportive and competent there, I didn't feel any worry. I guess that's what I'm most concerned with for mom. I'd rather be at her side until they take her back.

Then she'll be in a cast for a few weeks, so she's going to have to tolerate my less skilled cooking. She opened all my jars for me when it was my turn, so she's due some TLC

Awww...
It's to a specific protein, right? I thought I read something about a study they were doing with a treatment to help people handle the protein. But I'm not great at collecting stuff as I read...
If I couldn't have meat, bread, or dairy... uhh ohh.

Yeah, this has been a bit challenging. All her favorite foods are basically bread and cheese. Cheese pizza. Mac n cheese. Grilled cheese sandwich. I've been telling her for years she needs to eat fruits, grains, vegs, nuts, seeds to be healthy, strong, balanced and all I got was yeah, yeah I know. Well NOW, guess what she's eating, bc she has to or go hungry. God may be good but He's also ironic.

The nearest one I could find is two hours away in Paducah, IL. There's one in KY, 3 hours. St Louis is 3 hours. Long drive for a cut of meat and some chocolate.

Maybe I can say He didn't cause it, but that He allowed it? For to be a blessing to her? Because she really does need to eat healthy and now she is, and it's benefitting her in so many ways.

I enjoyed reading everyone's post. Sometimes BYC doesn't allow me to leave 'likes'. Didn't know if it's my Internet? See if I can leave a post and then tomorrow I will back track. Had a good visit with the nephrologist. I hadn't seen her since I was in the ER with low sodium and I find it hard to understand the hypernatremia/hyponatremia w/ electrolyte imbalance, vasopressin disorder or in layman's language, when my kidneys send too much water into my urine. It makes me dehydrated but leaves the salt in me so my brain gets too much salt and not enough water, I get dizzy and pass out. So I eat less salt and drink more water... But then I got dizzy and was vomiting because my sodium was too low. She said eating more salt can make it worse so I did right going to the ER

Oh my goodness! Sounds ... terrible. And difficult. And ... scary dangerous! Did she advise what to do?

But you go to St. Louis once or twice a year don't you? Or are those trips over with now?

I've been staying in the house, out of the sun cause I'm scared it will happen again. The lady in the ambulance told me I just needed someone to talk to, gave me a Crohn's lecture and never told the ER I have kidney disease. She told the ER I'm fine, I don't need help. I almost fell because I was dizzy and my calves felt like sticks. I guess from the low sodium. The nephrologist assured me I am doing the right thing and if it happens again to do the same thing... Insist on getting IV at the ER. So I feel a little better now, not that I understand the condition better but I feel better knowing I did the right thing.. She said not to take in extra dietary salt.
