Lol. My GirlChild and I drove 8 hours to Alabama in April to pick up a dozen lavender EE chicks that turned into 16. Lost one, and I now think about 8 of them are cockerels. Have gradually been having some of my OG girls processed to make room for the pullets in the hen house. Hoping to sell some of the cockerels. Trying to keep my population at about 25.

I have driven a ways to get free chickens before lol. I lost some this year but I still have that many!

These are my breeds: Buckeye, Delaware, New Jersey Giant, Wyndotte, Cochins, handful of mixed breeds, Serama, Polish, Brahama, Oliver Egger, Champines, Leghorns, Barduccles, Seabrights, Cochin Bantams, Japanese Bantams, 3 breeds I have no clue what they are, buff Orpington, Silkies, Houdan and a Welsummer.

I went overboard with mail order chicks. First time this year going that route. Mainly I wanted a variety but I butcher extra roosters that hatch (or in this case got). There is a small handful of customers for eggs. Right now I get between 12-18 eggs daily. There would be more if I did not have 7 broody hens. Plus, half my hens are still under laying age but that will change within 2 months. My chickens, least the ones I am not eating, are my feathers babies.

Tired. Woke up with a headache. Have not even had my coffee yet. Stayed up late last night crocheting, lol.

I forgot some breeds! Andalusian, Turkens, another 2 other mystery breeds, Jungle Fowl, and Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spithauben. I had to go outside and check if I listed them all.
