Granny's gone and done it again

Getting ahead of myself here but if she DOES send me, I’ll try to log on real quick and let you guys know before I go or else I’ll text/call someone and have that someone tell people for me lol but she probably won’t even send me lol
That would be nice but honestly, don't worry about us. Just do what's best for you. When do you see her?

the keebler elf that bakes the cookies. AKA Twist. lol
Granny, what meds are you already on, if you don't mind me asking? Did you say Tramadol and Gabapentin?
Also really personal, but is there any sort of history there that is making them act so tightfisted? Again, only if you don't mind me asking.

To offer something and not just ask stuff, I'll tell about the most horrible doctor I ever had, 3 years ago. Don't worry about reading it if you don't want to, it's kinda long.
---
I was so happy to have found my first female General Doc. She seemed nice at first, if a little brusque.
That was the year of my completely missing period, sorry for the TMI. So they were doing a fair bit of testing. (after a horrible uterine biopsy and some other stuff, it just came back on it's own, lol)

One day they gave me the link to my "Patient Portal" so I could see my records, so I logged in. I was shocked to see that among the conditions I was being "treated" for was narcotic dependence. They were generating billing codes for each visit related to that.
I thought it was a simple mistake at first, so I called the office and someone was going to be informed. After the next appointment I logged in again and it was still up there AND they had generated a billing code again. I looked the codes up online, and that meant my insurance was paying something each time they "treated" me for it.
So I spoke to a nurse manager. She promised to talk to the Dr. about it. I felt assured and didn't look again until 6 months had gone by. So I called in before my next appt. and the same nurse manager told me that I would have to talk to the doctor about it.
So I came in to get the results of a very expensive test, and made the mistake of bringing this issue up to the Doc before we discussed that.
She brought up a time the year prior when I'd had dental surgery... wisdom tooth extraction that involved drilling out bone and pulling up my gums on both sides, the surgeon had prescribed hydrocodone (on a Friday). I hated taking it, I couldn't think straight and felt so woozy, and it was the weekend, so first thing monday I already had an appt. with the regular Doc and asked her to prescribe me Ketorolac instead. It's just an Nsaid (like Ibuprofen, but much stronger) and it's really good for tooth pain. At least for my body. I love that medicine so much but they will hardly ever prescribe it due to "stomach bleeding risks" (never bothered mine).
Anyway. She somehow turned my "Hydrocodone makes me feel yucky, can I please have the Nsaid Ketorolac" into "I have an addiction problem". Ooookay.
So I thought we were on our way to sorting this out, finally, when she pulled up her own notes from that incident and saw the only thing written about my request was that I didn't like taking it and was coached on how to dispose of it properly.
Then she said she'd have to talk to the nurse manager about fixing the patient portal, and I asked if that would include calling my insurance company to correct their records as well.
She said absolutely not, and I asked (not being sure, but worried) if I were to end up in the hospital in an accident or something, and needing strong pain meds, is the insurance company going to issue some kind of alert that I can't have the good stuff because I'm supposedly now an addict?
She didn't seem to follow this theoretical, and got increasingly angry at me for asking what the insurance company would be informed of, until she shouts at me that "I'm the Dr. and you're the patient! You must respect me!" and I yelled back "Respect is a two way street!"
She refused to give me my expensive test results after that. Even though it was a time sensitive issue. She walks to the door with the body language that says you should go through, so I did of course. Then she stops before the second door to the waiting area with her hand on the handle, blocking the way out which I was eager to get through... and she puffs herself up like some matriarch talking to a 5 year old and tells me how I will not be allowed to speak to her that way. (I promise I said nothing worse than what is written here, and only yelled the once in response to her yelling).
I responded that it didn't matter because I would never be returning to her practice again. She said I was a terrible patient and she would be calling the insurance company to report me and I would not find another doctor. I accused her of medical billing fraud. Now the nurses are getting involved yelling at me, but I'm just one person standing there and being blocked from leaving. Finally one of the nurses yells at me to leave, at which point the Doc responded by leaving the doorway and I left in a huff.
I doubt I have ever been so mad, otherwise it would have felt extremely embarrassing to end up in a shouting match at the doctor's office.
I called my insurance company to report the incident, they were most concerned about her refusing to give me the expensive test results. (it took 2 months for me to get in to see another Doc to get the results.)
They said they would investigate and compare the history and services billed for. About 3 months later they did get back to me that the case merited being advanced to the Physicians board and her counterclaim was dismissed.

One one level I felt bad that a Doctor may be prevented from treating some patients, but on the other I felt like she might be doing this to other patients who weren't as able or willing to push back.

I hope you can take some encouragement from this and push back if a Doctor is taking too much control over your health. You're supposed to make decisions together... for instance, you can quit the ineffective pain medicines to be switched to something different. You can offer to turn the old meds in if needed! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. :hugs
Wow, just Wow! No words. I have been treated by Drs almost that bad but I would of punched them and they knew that so they backed up. I was on Percocet 7.5 3 xs a day and one gabapentin at bed time. Since I let my Dr take over she has increased the Percocet to 4xs a day added another gabapentin and Roboxin muscle relaxer. I have never went over what I am supposed to take or had problems with addiction. I'm sure my body would go thru withdrawels if I cold turkeyed the PPs though. I don't mind sharing whatever folks want to know so if I missed a question ask me again.
I just found it interesting. Not everybody gets the same side effects. I googled it and found she was right, it can cause cataracts. DH has thin bones from steroids. Guess the longer you take them the more chance you have of getting side affects. She said she sees people who take steroids long term. Too many people aren't taught about the meds they take
guilty!

I’m not sure if they talk to each other or not. Theoretically they do because I signed releases but they’re both busy AND they’re from different facilities because when I switched psychiatrists, I kept my current therapist cause I liked her that much. So yeah. But I’m sure you’re right about the whole question thing. BUT! She could send me. I’m terrified of that.
What does that mean? Is it code for something else?

I had the first appointment this morning and loved getting out early and not messing up the whole day like lunch time appointments can.
No results from my test until I go back to see the doc. I thought I was going for a stress test but got a full blown ultra sound over my entire chest from all angles. Near the end I thought the last round of beans were going to erupt but I managed to make it outside just in time.
Never ..ever..eat something that is going to cause "havoc " the next day when you have an appointment somewhere. Never. Ya hear? Well I guess ya know now. 😁
