Can I give you some advice from somebody who has been there done that and learned a valuable lesson the hard way?Thank you! She'll be okay. We've all had it more than once through the years. The white patches on the tonsils are diagnostic so you go in and get a Rx for amoxicillin and you're good to go. Always feels like razor blades in the throat to me. GC never even spikes a fever when she gets it. I do and also ache all over. Haven't had it years. Hope she keeps it to herself, lol!
In 1976, a year and a half out of nurses training, I contracted a strep throat while working a stent on Pediatrics. 6 months later I was in the hospital for a month and in bed for 5 more months at home thanks to Rheumatic Fever. It was my second strep throat and both times I had taken a full course of Penicillin. After the first bout, I had joint pain and a general flu like feeling that lasted for about 4 months and went away. Didn't think too much of it. I was an active horseback rider and sore joints happen with horseback riding.
The second bout left me with heart damage. I have a damaged mitral valve and take medication for Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia and a sinus arrhythmia. I've taken heart medicine since I was 27 years old.
Take strep throats seriously. Even with antibiotics they can be life changers.
Sure hope your kiddos get to feeling better really soon.
