You need to call the doctor and tell them so they can fix it or pay for it or whatever

Don't think so... You sign a waiver before surgery that holds them harmless for any damages incurred before, during or after surgery. You can't sue if you die. I mean your family can't. I'm pretty sure anyway. Otherwise doctors would go broke and pretty soon there wouldn't be any doctors practicing.

Oh wow. Good point. I forgot about that… I still think they should at least be informed though so they can be more careful next time.
