Rough day here. We were two people short of a full staff, but had a working plan to make do. This morning a girl quit. We scrambled but still had a pretty good plan, until another girl quit this afternoon. So now we're two weeks from staff training and four people short.

Plus Monday's shenanigans. Or yesterday? I've been sleeping a lot and can't remember... It's been a dumb week.

It's an ongoing thing, but not very big. Some stuff grows year round here. Just enough to give us some fresh goodies. I will try to get some pics this week.

Cucumbers have magic powers. They are cat repellents!

I think it taps into their natural fear of snakes. Tried it with Ming and Henry. No reaction at all. I bet Binks would shred that cucumber to bits!!

Teens and young adults these days are not made of stern stuff. Not sure why. Coddled, poor work ethic, feeling entitled... Hard working young people are out there for sure, they're just a little harder to find these days. Ask at church maybe? Local high school or community college? I think summer jobs would be in demand. The one this morning has issues. Zero sense of self-worth. She kept saying she's not good enough and we don't want her. Crazy thing is she did this EXACT same thing last year, quit two weeks out. :/ The other girl took an internship of some sort? Neither of them talked to DH. One texted, one called the office and talked to the assistant.

DH is pretty picky. We're not the only Methodist camp in the state, and we're not even close to the only camp in 100 miles (5 or 6 others nearby?) but I think our staff work the hardest. Three weeks of training and 8-10 weeks if camp with only 48 hours off, if we don't have a weekend camp.

He doesn't like to take kids who don't have a year of college or work experience. The fresh grads don't usually do so well. The majority of our former staffs have aged out, so we're in a transition right now.

Just sucks that it's happening now and not a month ago.
