good for you. Mother made us plant a row of nasty sticky juniper's at the house in Devils Lake. Started they years with 25 plants. Every time dad mowed he would "accidently" on purpose mow down one or two trees. Smart man tho he always took from the end's so unless you went out and counted it wasn't so noticible at least for awhile.

BENNY   thank you for the yak pic  I had never seen one with those colors.  Maybe a cross breed ??

You shoul reed the link!!

It is a dzo a cross between Yac and a cow, it has the hibrid vigorous features,

Heterosis, hig meat and milk production!

I know that some breeders  promote and sell Yak bull for the express purpose of cross breading with cattle (especially heifers)  but from what I have read the yak bulls have to be raised with cattle then  in order for them to associate "real cows"  as desirable ??       For me that would open up a whole mess of problems starting with not enough land.    So  I just need to make sure mine are "pure"  and I am good to go.

Do you have sufficient yak milk for making butter?

I have a total of 5 cows and currently they are not tame enough to even get hair from the base of their spines for DNA testing. I personally have not intention of attempting to milk them, I think it would end up with me in ICU and the Cow in the freezer.

They are all young cows (well for yaks) only 3 of them have had calves and those last year. I am hoping that Porter managed to put them all in the family way. Since last July

Cook him a nice bowl of cereal.  :P

Cute!  Heather and Chrissy are the names of 2 of my neighbor's daughters. Blast from the past...   they were born in the 70s!  If you need another retro-name, the third sister is Missy (Melissa).

Hi York!  That looks like Virginia Creeper.

Oh, great idea! Those are cute, now I wish I had gotten more just to name them. :lau

Babies kept soaking their bedding. Not sure what happened this time but the thermo was reading 87 so they were all chilled. I moved them to a bigger box and gave them a food floor to boost them a bit. They have tap shoes. :( I'm going to have to watch them better.
