Headed off to have supper with my fam. Not looking forward to it. Tomorrow's our biggest event of the year: the birthday bash. It's like an open house. Free activities, plate lunch for $5, tours, etc. We're understaffed, so I didn't really need the added stress. Going to do a bit of "fun" shopping as a treat.



When I get home I'm going to move the big babies to the tractor, then put Sally's eggs in the bator. Plus about 10 of my own.

The dominant cockerel, Friendly. He'll get a good chest, but I don't think that tail will ever come up.



The other smooth cockerel. He's prettier in person. All the black feathers are shiny green. He's a pest. Tommy Trouble.


Look at little Bueno.

Wish I liked the silkie feather more. He's tiny, but very sweet.

Just got home from taking my daughter and her family to the airport.
Traveling with a 6 year old and a two year old should be fun!!

Hi h2oratt!! How far are they travelling? I have done some LONG distance travelling with my special needs little girl, and 99% of the time she is an angel, that 1% almost made me almost never get on a plan with her again! Last summer we drove from Maine to California in 4 days. She sat in the back seat and played with stuffed animals, or her electronics and SLEPT!!!

That photo looks like my yard too! I don't have grass for my poor chicks - only when it rains, then I have grass for about a week. Then it disappears again.

Not seriously predator proof. That's what the dogs are for. It's more to keep them in. The older Serama hens are out running around up there anyway. Cage is under a big oak tree, so no grass there, but it's the only place in the yard with some sand. It must be left over from drilling the well (40 yrs ago!). Most of the grass is already going brown. Usually completely brown by June.

No grass to mow. I dont think I would like that as it means its too hot to grow right ?
